About the West Coast OpenDear Martial Arts Enthusiast, Please accept this invitation to attend The West Coast Open Martial Arts Championships 2008 on Saturday, September 20th at Tacoma's Mount Tahoma High School. This event promises to be one of the premiere events in the Northwest and will bring martial artists of different styles together, under one umbrella, united, and working toward the harmony in the arts that martial arts masters have always strived for. We are very proud to have the assistance and sponsorship of The Tacoma Sports Commission and truly appreciate their hard work in making this a successful event. This competition is also sanctioned by the USA National Karate-do Federation, which is the governing body for the sport of Karate, under the auspices of the USOC. The Washington State Karate-do Federation, whch is the regional sports organization for the USANKF, will also be supporting this competition. Masters Dong Lee and Joe Whitworth, of Lee's Martial Arts Academy, will coordinate the Tae Kwon Do divisions while Sensei Matt Day the Karate divisions. It is a pleasure and honor to work with these gentlemen as they have the highest integrity and experience that will insure a safe, fair, and exciting competition for all involved. This event is also the Washington State qualifier for the Disney Martial Arts Festival which will be held at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida in October 24-26,2008. We welcome and appreciate all competitors, officials, and volunteers to participate in this goodwill event. Please mark your calendars for Saturday, September 20th, and join us at the West Coast Open International Martial Arts Championships. Yours in Martial Arts Unity, Chuck Sweigart
